Requested:

A flexible, easy-to-follow resistance band training program offering both full-body and core-focused workout paths.

Problems/Issues:

  • Limited initial knowledge of resistance band training techniques and safety guidelines.
  • Difficulty sourcing a model for exercise demonstration images.
  • Needed to design a system that allowed user freedom while maintaining structure and progression.

Approach/Timeline:

Created two structured yet adaptable workout booklets over several weeks, combining guided planning, research, and user-friendly design.

Results:

Developed two complete resistance training booklets—Full Body and Core Focused—each featuring beginner and intermediate 4-week workout plans.
Also created a Fitness Grid Poster for visual quick reference and easy exercise selection, and began work on digital notebook versions for note-taking apps.

Project Overview

Introduction

The Resistance Band Workout Booklet was created as a digital fitness resource for Concierge Printables’ Etsy store. The goal was to make a comprehensive, beginner-friendly program that promoted flexibility and personalization—especially for families or individuals who wanted low-impact strength training.

The booklet was inspired by real use cases in Chris’s household, balancing accessibility, safety, and motivation.

Process

The design began with in-depth research on resistance training, band techniques, and exercise safety. Chris consulted physical therapists to ensure the content reflected accurate movement and form descriptions.

Each exercise was categorized by muscle group, then divided into 2–3 target segments—with 2–3 exercises per segment—to allow users to choose exercises and customize their routines.

The 4-week workout plans included both beginner and intermediate cycles, and the Fitness Grid Poster was introduced to make exercise tracking simple and visual.

Additional sections covered safety tips, motivation guidance, and proper technique to ensure users could train independently with confidence.

Outcome

The final result was a unique, modular resistance training system that empowers users to “build their own path” by selecting from structured exercise groups.

The companion poster and detailed instruction booklet provided clear guidance, flexibility, and motivation—balancing design aesthetics with practical usability.

Future versions are being adapted for digital note-taking apps like CollaNote and GoodNotes, allowing even greater accessibility for users who prefer digital fitness tracking.
